Dental Health: More Info on Fluoride

March 24th, 2008

I’d like to share with you this article that gives another slant on the fluoride controversy.

Although fluoride is still used and widely promoted in most tooth paste products, the general opinion by experts is that it is a useless and harmful substance. The only ‘fans’ of fluoride seem to have a commercial interest in using this substance. The general consensus is growing to eventually eliminate fluoride as an additive to dental health products. The momentum is picking up steadily.

I’m not knocking anybody. However, facts are facts. There is so much evidence to prove that this substance formed from  fluorine really does very little to enhance dental health. To jump on the fluoride bandwagon with no real proof of it’s effectiveness is a bit irresponsible. At very least, the use of fluoride as an additive should be earnestly reconsidered.

The best idea is to be natural. Find what food substances actually do enhance dental health and stay with that. One thing is for sure, it is certainly more economical to use natural substances to maintain our dental (and all) health wherever possible.

If you can, take time to check out that article.

Here is the link to your “Bad Breath Bible”

OraMD is, by far, my natural brushing dentifrice of choice.  Some may claim that it’s “expensive”. However, when it only takes 3-4 drops a day to maintain glowing dental health, I would dare say that it’s quite a bargain. Very few other commercially available toothpaste or mouthwash products can claim to not only prevent Gingivitis & Periodontitis but can actually revert the symptoms and fully heal the gums. This has certainly been the result for me.

No fluoride, no chemicals, no crap; just the most potent natural oils to eliminate bad breath along with tooth and gum degeneration.

Dental Health with Chocolate!

March 21st, 2008

Yes, you heard right. There’s a certain anti-bacterial property found in chocolate that prevents tooth decay.

To be exact, it is the antibacterial properties found in the husk of the cocoa bean that fights plaque and other bacteria. This part of the bean is normally discarded in the production of chocolate. Properly extracted, the husk can be utilized for bacteria fighting prevention; either with chocolate or other food based products.

As discussed in a previous post, plaque is the culprit to the onset of gingivitis and periodontitis.

It’s also been found that this quality generally makes chocolate less damaging as a confection compared to other sweets. Even if we eat standard milk or dark chocolate (and who doesn’t), the antibacterial properties in the chocolate offset the potential damage of the sugar. It’s a great thing to know and use when justifying a chocolate binge. I’m certainly going to use that excuse the next time!

OK, I’m getting carried away. However, there has been earnest research at Osaka University in Japan since 2000 to find how vital these anti-bacterial properties are. The Cocoa Bean Husk (called CBH) has been used in several experiments with rats. It was added to their water. The same rats had water with high sugar added. After the CBH was added, the rats had a much lower tendency to cavities. This was a test conducted over a 3-month period.

It has been suggested from this research that new products can be developed using CBH for tooth decay prevention. First off, toothpaste and mouthwash with CBH added is becoming a strong possibility.

Also, CBH added back to standard chocolate products will create a better chance of preventing cavities while indulging in chocolate as we know and love it daily. SWEEEEEET! (Sorry, I couldn’t resist).

Dental Health & Diabetes

March 18th, 2008

I read an article today that had me a bit alarmed. Especially since I had a long , personal fight with Gingivitis and Periodontitis. In fact, those dental issues are the very reason that this blog exists. Writing about it and blogging my own results have been very helpful in my own research. I’ve learned how to get the condition fully under control. Hopefully, it’s been helpful and a source of inspiration  to you too.

There is a strong connection between Periodontitis and Diabetes. It goes like this: Diabetes is a culprit to be detected if you have a condition of Periodontitis and , conversely,  Periodontitis is a sign of Diabetes.

Additionally, if you get one of the afflictions under control, the other will come other control.  They’re sort of like “bookends”. One is a symptom of the other. They feed off one another.

If you had an onset of Gingivitis and/or Periodontitis, a full check up for Diabetes is necessary. This is just as important as getting to the dentist.

It is equally important to get the items to combat the conditions. OraMD has been my “ace in the deck” for keeping my periodontitis under control.

Most early diabetes can be either reversed or brought dramatically under control with a good healthy diet. Only a doctor who specializes in the condition can aptly develop a program for you.

Good luck to you if you have these symptoms. Don’t be afraid, be conscientious and get help.

Oh yes, don’t forget to get your free”bad breath bible”. The report covers so much more than bad breath.

Pregnancy Dental Health Tips

March 17th, 2008

Many women fall into a compromised state of dental health during pregnancy.

Hormones released during pregnancy along with increased blood flow can cause the gums to become inflamed. This inflamation leads to Gingivitis and Periodontitis.

Pregnancy is also a time when the bacteria that causes plaque has the opportunity to increase dramatically.

Much of a mother’s intake of nutrients are used to ensure the proper growth of the fetus. This stress on the mother’s system is enormous. This added demand can deplete a woman’s natural immune defenses too. It is important for a pregnant woman to eat the most nutritious food for her own health as well as the health of the baby.

Prenatal health care should include a complete regimen of dental care too. Here are some points. This can be copied and pasted to your notepad or word document and printed out. Post this  in an area where  you can check it off daily during the 9 months of pregnancy.

  1.    Have your dentist check your teeth frequently during the 9 months of pregnancy in order to detect and provide treatment for any dental health issue that may arrive. Professional  Cleaning is essential in order to remove plaque build up. It’s the plaque build up that leads to Gingivitis and Periodontitis.
  2. Eat only nutritious food. Avoid sugar, caffeine and foods with empty calories. Remember, whatever a mother is eating during pregnancy, a child is also ingesting.
  3. Vitamin C and Calcium are needed during pregnancy. Be sure to keep these added nutrients in good supply. If your health plan includes nutritional counseling, by all means take full advantage of it.
  4. Craving is normal. It’s nature’s way of telling you to “eat for two”. Munch on fresh fruit, vegetables and other health foods such as yogurt and nuts. Eating well creates good saliva.  This saliva will counteract the bad bacteria and the build up of such germs.
  5. Clean the entire mouth with: tongue scraping (described in the previous post).
  6. Flossing: using ReachAccess is a great and easy way to accomplish this. My own dentist recommended this product to me very highly. Most people never floss properly. This product easily solves that problem.
  7. Get your free “Bad Breath Bible”. When you access the page to order your bible, look at the starter kits available. You can choose a kit that fits and addresses your exact  challenges. It’s also very affordable.
  8. Brush your teeth and use OraMD to thoroughly clean the gumline. Add a few drops to your tongue. This product kills 22 of the most invasive germs that cause Gingivitis, Periodontitis & Bad Breath.

Pregnancy should be a time of great joy and anticipation. It is perhaps the greatest miracle of life. Self care and respect for the mother and growing child is a joyous duty.

Facts About Tongue Cleansing for Dental Health

March 15th, 2008

Tongue brushing or scraping with a simple , inexpensive scraper will do wonders for oral hygiene.

The tongue, very similar to a sponge, is a deep breeding ground for the bacteria that cause bad breath. This same bacteria easily transfers to the teeth and gums, further aggravating  gum disease and tooth decay.

Most of the bacteria forms, takes hold and festers  in the back area of the tongue leading down to the throat area.

By the very structure of the mouth, the front area moves the most. The tongue scrapes up against the front teeth and moves the most while talking, eating and so on.  It has been found that less bacteria will build up in the front area of the tongue. This normal motion releases more bacteria which is easily removed by brushing and using mouth wash.

The back part of the tongue, being less mobile, has a tendency to allow bacteria to grow.

There’s an easy solution to defeat this bacteria build up. It’s also quite inexpensive. Using a tongue scraper will relieve this problem dramatically.

A tongue scraper can be had for $3 to $8 either from the health food store or an outlet like CVS. There are different designs. Most are plastic; some are metal.

The most common complaint of using a tongue scraper is the gag reflex. This is uncomfortable. However, after using a scraper, there is a tendency for this reaction to ease-up.

To use the scraper, gently press against the back area of the tongue and pull forward. You will notice a great deal of saliva and odorous material coming out. Of course, this is good because you are ridding the bacteria quickly and effectively.

After scraping and getting the release of this harmful matter, brush thoroughly with OraMd. A few drops on the tongue will be very effective to kill the remaining bacteria. This simple treatment will do wonders for your overall dental health and bring bad breath under control. Depending on the extent of the problem, it could handle the bad breath issue immediately or over a few days to a few weeks. Any amount of time to control this is well worth the effort.

A Deadly Duet!…..(for germs that is)

March 14th, 2008

Dental Health, as with all health, is a good combination of prevention and maintenance. “Cure” must be addressed long after a health problem has taken hold.

Prevention is a matter of carefully observing the teeth and gums for any sub-health condition that can be noticed. It’s also daily brushing. Of course, the most important thing is to see your dental professional every 6 months.

Cleaning upon arising, right after each meal or snacks, and cleaning thoroughly before going to bed is vital.

Brushing before sleep is one that is often overlooked. Why? We’re tired and don’t want to make the extra effort. However, germs build up dramatically while sleeping. We all know that. It’s evidenced by the “wonderful” condition of morning breath (yuk!)

Sleep is the time that germs have several hours to multiply and play havoc.  They can dig-in and start to fester. there’s a solution to this.

Here’s a tip: use OraMD just before sleeping. Brush the teeth thoroughly, then add several drops to the gum-line and tongue. This will work wonders to keep bacteria under control. We will never get rid of these germs 100%. However, enough bacteria will be kept under control to prevent much damage. It goes a very long way.

I’ve just added oral water cleansing to the arsenal. It works miraculously and feels wonderful. The mouth absolutely glows with cleanliness and good health!

Flossing, Cleaning with oral water cleansing and the use of OraMD for brushing and tongue health will create a life of worry free dental health! Try it and you will see results within days.

Fluoride Controversy….an Appeal to Common Sense

March 12th, 2008

Fluoride has been used in our drinking water since the late 40’s. This was a time when government intent would not be subject to scrutiny. It was a time when such a measure was considered to be in the best interest of the people.

Fluoride, however, is a pollutant that is damaging to teeth and overall health.

Fluoride was considered to be an anti-cavity agent when it was found in trace amounts during the early 1900’s. At the time, a dental condition called “Colorado Brown Stain” existed in small populations of the Southwest. The symptoms were discolorations and sometimes deformity of the teeth. However, those with the affliction had an ‘interesting’ immunity to cavities. After investigation, it was determined that fluoride caused the discoloration but also had the positive effect of preventing cavities.

A supposed preventive element was discovered in the fight against tooth decay. A new industry was born.

As the toothpaste industry developed, fluoride was used to counter-act cavity formation while other ingredients contributed to whitening and the control of bad breath, etc. Branded toothpaste formulas were developed and improved upon. Today we have high competition to corner the market with these basic dental health products.

As the years past, it was discovered that fluoride was not all that it was cracked up to be. In fact, it was found that it actually has a higher toxicity level than lead. It has been tied to brain damage in children and a lowered IQ in adults.

The FDA does not consider fluoride to be in the food category at all but a drug. The EPA has called fluoride for dental health, in both composition and usage…….”a toxic and propholactically useless substance.”

My question is: why even consider such a substance for health in the first place? Why use something that has no real use to the human body whatsoever in a health product? It makes no sense.

ORaMD has 22 known bacteria killing agents that come from a natural formula consisting of almond, peppermint and spearmint oils. These are 100% essential oils. I’ve been using this for almost a year now. My mouth is fresh. My Periodontal symptoms are under control. My gums have healed and no longer open or bleed. I have no pain or loose teeth.

My second question is: why fool with toxic, strange substances that have nothing to do with human health (or the body) when you can get the best results from purely natural products that are whole foods that the body loves?

I’m sure that my simple logic aligns with yours.

Endocarditis: Heart Disease and Infection

March 7th, 2008

The Endocardium is a thin membrane within your heart. The Endocardium lines the four valves & Chambers within your heart.

If there is some damage within the heart and bacteria enters through the bloodstream, Endocarditis can result.

Bacteria can be introduced to the bloodstream through any area of the body that is in compromised health. Common sources are the skin or breaks in the gum such as the fissures of Periodontitis.

A person with a healthy heart is not normally subject to Endocarditis. However, a weak heart, compounded by other infected areas of the body, can be a dangerous recipe for the onset of the disease. Such a combination of sub-health conditions could be fatal.

Persons with a diagnosed damaged heart valve or an artificial valve need to take frequent precautions to assure their heart health.

The symptoms of this disease are very similar to the onset of the flu. Fever, chills, fatigue and aching joints are common with the onset of this affliction.

Any hint of such symptoms need immediate medical diagnosis and care.

To keep the spread of deadly oral bacteria including yeast and molds. OraMD is a powerful anti-bacterial agent. This product goes a long way in prevention of Endocarditis.

It’s important to know if you have any damage within the heart. Frequent check-ups and close medical care can save your life.

Dental Health and Prevention for the Elderly

March 5th, 2008

Senior Citizens in many cases cannot afford proper dental health. Living in a nursing home or on a strict budget could create poverty-level care for the elderly.

A senior in a compromised state of health is more inclined to also develop dental health challenges.

If an infection, such as an abscess develops, it can lead to blood poisoning.

If one is diabetic, infection can increase fluctuations in blood sugar levels. It also increases the onset of pneumonia.

The elderly can add OraMD to their daily brushing .  This greatly increases the resistance to infectious bacteria which leads to Gingivitis & Periodontitis.

This less expensive treatment will greatly add to the quality of life for the senior citizen.
